November 7th was an exciting day for elementary student leaders and teachers because it was the second E-CSLIT meeting of the 2013-2014 school year! The Catholic Teacher Centre was packed with 37 elementary schools composed of 201 amazing students and 64 fabulous teacher.
Here is a summary of what happened.

Before the meeting officially begins, Tanika Riley from Por Amor (aka Insight) and Matthew Jones (aka Testament) from P.E.A.C.E. make a special guest appearance!

It’s 4:30 p.m. and you know what that means! The E-CSLIT meeting officially begins. Our E-CSLIT Chair, Marivic, welcomes everyone.
Susan Hookong-Taylor from the Catholic Teachers Centre, teaches everyone an amazing song called, Hope In Christ.
Susan also leads us in prayer. Shout-outs to superintendent Geoff Grant, Father Obinna (CTC), Rob Gallo (Religion Resource) for dropping by!
November’s virtue of the month is Peace. Michael Consul gives his speech about the virtue! 🙂

Our guest speaker, Leisha Zamecnik, from Spreading Compassion, explains how important our actions are.
Leisha explains that there is a choice of “doing nothing” or “taking positive actions.” Which option would you choose?

Milky way and Snickers say hello to everyone and explains that everyone receives a Faith, Hope, and Charity wristband or pen. Each school also received a CD with the songs “Faith, Hope and Charity” and “Hope in Christ”

Congratulations to the winners of the Social Media Challenge! Marivic smiles with St. Conrad, our second place winner 🙂 They received ($300?)
It’s 6:30 and the E-CSLIT meeting comes to an end 😦
St. Ursula and St. Barbara who won 3rd place for the social media challenge. They will be receiving tickets to attend the Angel Foundation Christmas Gala on November 15th. The Second place winner is St. Conrad who won $300. Last but not least, our 1st place winner is St. John the Evangelist who won $500! 🙂
The meeting was a huge success and thank you to everyone who came!

Here are the rules for your November E-CSLIT Face-to-Face Challenge:
The ChallengeCreate a tower that can hold up a plastic cup only using the items below.
Items to be used / Specifications
regular drinking straws (not extra wide bubble tea straws)
all 25 must be used
straws can be cut if desired
1-2″ thick masking tape only
2 feet of masking tape max (not a whole roll)
Red Plastic Cup
Coins will be placed in the cup so make the opening accessible
Bottom of cup must be at least 12″ off the ground
Use these type of straws
Make sure red plastic cup is held by tower and is at least 12″ off the ground
GoalThe school who’s tower can hold the most weight in pennies, WINS!
