Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 – Elementary school students arrive at Quigley Hall at the CEC for the first ECSLIT meeting of the year.
The elementary division of CSLIT meets the first Thursday of every month to learn from guest speakers, become better leaders, be exposed to various social justice issues, and have the opportunity to network with likeminded student leaders. ECSLIT meetings are held every first Thursday of the month, and are led by:
Christopher Di Matteo and Makeda Muluneh – Director of Elementary Affairs.
First on the agenda, CSLIT’s Faith Ambassador Junette Tindan opened with a prayer focused on the virtue of the month for October which is Graditude.
To get the energy flowing, attendance was taken – CSLIT style. Students got into their school groups and prepared a short cheer to perform in front of the other schools. Being as loud and proud as possible.
Michael Consul (Catholic Student Leadership) welcomed the everyone and share this quote with us all emphasizing how leadership is a call to serve.
This week professional motivational speaker Sean Hakim was our guests.
Through beatboxing, poetry, and sketch comedy, Sean Hakim, spoke about how we need to overcome our fears and stand up to negative peer pressure.
It’s pizza time! During the pizza break, each school team was given a challenge.
Goal: create the tallest paper towers using 1 sheet of chart paper, 1 styrofoam cup, 1 straw and a small piece of masking tape. The winning team was St. Martin de Porres!
Our next speaker was Superintendent Michael Caccamo to give greetings and congratulations. Before Mr. Caccamo left the stage, teacher Merle Gonsalvez who was hosting the next event, ask Mr. Caccamo to demonstrate the bottle flip challenge. To everyone’s surprise, Superintendent Caccamo got it in one try!
East vs West teachers. First team to win 5 bottle flips. The East side takes it by a lopsided score of 5 to zero.
Next month’s school challenge.

Excited to see you at our next monthly meeting
