RECAP: ECSLIT Online Meeting Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020

Our second ECSLIT online meeting happened on Thursday, October 1, 2020 on YouTube LIVE. Here’s a recap of our awesome meeting. You can also watch a recording here.

The meeting was hosted by our Directors of Elementary Affairs Elisa Acerbi (Madonna) and Junette Tindan (Senator O’Connor).

Julia the CSLIT Faith Rep, lead the beautiful opening prayer.

Our board welcome was given by Superintendent Joanne Melo. She shared her favourite quote from Oprah Winfrey, “Gratitude is the only attitude.” She describes how positivity can spread among others and help create a better community.

We had Mr. Consul discussed the virtue of the month, which is gratitude. In summary, “What your focus on expands,” so we should be grateful for the things we have rather than focusing on the things we don’t have.

Our guest speaker was Greg Rogers, the former coordinator of Student Leadership at the TCDSB and the Associate Director at Olympia Sports Camp. He explained his definition of a “leader” and “leadership.” A leader is a person who has a positive influence on themselves and on others. Leadership is any act or way of way being that has a positive influence on others.

Greg taught us the cycle of the, ” Hero’s journey. ” As we go on our leadership journey, keep these steps in mind as a road map.

It’s game time!! Our ECSLIT leaders compete to see which team can get the most points as they battle in Pictionary. The audience can also play along and win prizes if they are the first person to type in the correct answer in the chat box.

Would you have guessed that this was Camp Olympia?

This month’s challenge will involve pumpkins to get in the Halloween spirit! You have 2 choices. 1) Carve a pumpkin. Or 2) Draw a pumpkin. Either way show us your creativity and send a photo of your masterpiece to Elisa or Junette to qualify for a prize.

September’s leadership challenge winners were Angel Anne, Luke Amande, and Miguel Nunuvero-Ortiz. Congratulations! What amazing crests!

Michael Caccamo, the superintendent for ECSLIT and CSLIT team had some closing remarks. He mentioned how we all have God-given gifts and talents and we are intended to use them to make difference in our own lives, our family’s lives, and the lives of the people in our community.

Julia our CSLIT Faith Rep joins us once again to leads us in closing prayer before we end the meeting.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 4:30 pm!
