The best evaluators of your teaching performance are your students. Many moons ago I received provincial best practice award for developing this teacher rubric. In short, it’s an evaluation that students complete on YOU!!
As scary as it might sound (it is a little nerve wracking), it has honestly made me a better teacher. It made me realize my blind spots as well as identify the qualities that students really like about me. Looking back at old evaluations also helps reflect on my practice. “Why did I stop doing that, it really worked well?” or “Wow, I still not very good at that!” Two things I heard myself say when looking back at old evaluations.
It takes courage but it is well worth it!
PIXLR – FREE GRAPIC DESIGN / PHOTO EDITING
Those familiar with Adobe Photoshop know how power it is as well as how expensive it can be to load on your computer. Pixlr on the other hand is free! Teachers love free!
I use it for editing photos, creating graphics & logos, designing thumbnails, etc. No software downloads (web based)
GOING BEYOND BLACK HISTORY MONTH
CSLIT, our Catholic Student Leadership Impact them have been doing some great work and producing some awesome online material. If you missed the 5 day live broadcast of Truth, Triumph, and Tomorrow it’s a much watch, even for your own PD.
Every session is 30 minutes long and is hosted by student leaders and guest presenter Matthew Testament Jones from the organization P.E.A.C.E.
All 5 recordings of the live broadcast are posted at www.catholicstudentleadership.com. If you have kids, worth the watch with your family. And of course, perfect for your classroom even if Black History Month/African Heritage is over. Your students will learn a great deal as well as be entertained. Below is episode 1.
