On December 26th, 2015, 14 high school students, 1 university volunteer, and 4 adults will be travelling to the Philippines to put our faith into action and follow in the footsteps of Jesus.  While half way across the world, we will be helping in the construction of new homes for those less fortunate, assisting in a community clean up, visiting an orphanage, giving Christmas presents to 5 different villages, dancing, having fun, and most importantly, building relationships.

  1. Thank you for allowing me to stay in the loop, your very special mission is in my thoughts and in my prayers!

  2. OMG!!! I’m so scared! Gezz going to the other side of the world without my family is scary!
I’m so happy though because I can’t wait to go help others.
I’m so thankful for all of my supports for helping me fundraise all the money. Always encouraging me to continue even when I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore. Thank you so much!!! See you in the new year!!!

  3. I’m really excited to go to the Philippines, it still doesn’t even feel real. It’s such an amazing trip that I am so lucky to go on, i’m really looking forward to it, I just really want to go, I can’t wait! I wanted to thank my friends and family, as well as everyone else who has helped me by donating or just showing their support, I would not have been able to go on this service trip without them and I am truly grateful for that. Also a congratulations to all the other students going on this trip as well, we’re going to have such a great experience there together as well as have so much fun and of course, do what we are going there for, to help, and change lives.

  4. As the hours count down, I’m getting more anxious to go on this trip. My excitement for this trip has been on my mind for weeks and now that it is so close, it doesn’t even feel real. I hope my fellow volunteers are as excited as me but to those who are hesitant or are having second thoughts, just know that we’re all in this together! I just want to say thank you to all of my sponsors and supporters for helping me reach this goal and allowing me to have this experience. You make me feel truly blessed and I hope to spread that love in the Philippines.

  5. update: even though no one picked orange for their food and colour, I still know this trip is gonna be so GREAT!!! Everyday, I get more anxious that I’m forgetting to pack something or that I’m forgetting a homework assignment. I think I’ll miss my room a lot too (especially my bed, and PC!) but most of all, my friends and family. However, in a weird way I’m going to the Philippines with other friends and will see other family. Either way, I know that there`ll be a bunch of people with me I can count on and have fun with! We`re leaving tomorrow, and I’m beyond excited!!! Thanks everyone who supported me to go on this trip, and here’s to change in the Philippines!

  6. P.S. A huge thank you to father Damien who helped me so much, I couldn’t have done it without him and his church! Thank You!

  7. It still hasn’t hit me at all that were leaving tomorrow night. I have never done a trip similar to this one before and I am really looking forward to it! I don’t think there is a better way to spend your Christmas break. Thank you to Jennifer Atkins, a real estate agent who was a complete stranger to me and gave me $500 towards this trip, also everyone who had bought raffle tickets to help support me, and so forth. I would also like to thank my family for allowing me to be a part of such a life-changing opportunity. See you all tomorrow!

  8. this is probably going to be the most life changing experience ever. I am so excited to be spending christmas helping others who are less fortunate than people and canada and hopefully change some lives in the next 2 weeks. see everybody tomorrow!

  9. OMG!!! I just want to leave already, I can’t wait to get there. It’s going to be my first time in Asia so I can’t wait to experience the different culture, lifestyle and to be able to help out. Im thankful that I have this opportunity to go with such great people and i hope that we all have fun on this great adventure. I would like to say thank you to my parent, family member, Mr. Consul, church (Kingdom Covenant), McKinnon Heating and Cooling, Dr. Young, Ms. Diamontopolis, Ms. Redigonda, Ms. Saccethi, Mr. Meroly, and all other that were able to make this all happen. Thank You!!!:)

  10. It still hasn’t sunk in that in a couple days I will be on the other side of the world. Over the last few months , I’ve been so busy fundraising and organizing for this trip, and haven’t really thought about the trip itself. Now, though, the enormity and importance of what I am about to do is coming to me. I know that this experience will be life changing, and I feel lucky to be able to be a part of such a great thing. To all of the other trip members, I hope you’re as excited as I am, and I can’t wait to get to know you more. Lastly, I am extremely grateful for all the generosity and support that I have received from family, friends , and strangers that made this trip possible for me.

  11. I am so nervous yet excited at this point. Through my fundraising efforts I have learned a new meaning of “sacrifice” which changed me in many ways. I would like to thank my loving parents for allowing me to go half ways across the world to make a change in the global community. In addition, I would also like to thank the teachers, volunteer, parents who were responsible for organizing this amazing trip. See yall tomorrow!!!

  12. As the trip quickly approaches I can feel the excitement building up, although it hasn’t really hit me yet that in about a day I’ll be half way across the world actually making a difference. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve heard “Be the change you want to see in the world”, but I’ve never truly taken it to heart. Yet here we are, fifteen overly excited students embodying this quote for what it genuinely means. I’m beyond proud of everyone that has put in the effort whether it be fundraising or spreading the word to make this trip what it is because you’ve already made a change. Your efforts are what will make this trip amazing!

I’m thankful to have been blessed with this amazing opportunity but of course, I couldn’t have done any of it without my amazing support team. I’m beyond grateful for my parents and their unending support, without them I wouldn’t be able to go on the trip. I would also like to thank the staff of Francis Libermann CHS, especially Mr. D’Souza for helping me with my fundraising and for their warm wishes. Also Mr. Consul for making this trip possible for all of us. Finally, from the bottom of my heart I’d like to thank any sponsors, friends and family that have supported me, you’ve all inspired me to do great things.

… Now I think I should get packing

  13. It still hasn’t hit me that I’m going to leave the country in 24 hours, and that I’m going to the other side of the world where my parents were born and raised. There is a lot of emotions. Thank you to all the people who gave me support the pasts months either through words or from fundraising, My parents, friends (and to my best friend [I don’t want to name names] sorry that I ripped you off that one time), teachers, relatives, Father Ze for letting me funraise at church, and to all the people who donated money or items. And to Mike Consul for providing all of us a good opportunity give back to the world in a really big way.
24 more hour! see you guys at the airport tomorrow!~

  14. A few more hours left to our departure and I’ve got a bunch of mixed emotions going on. There’s a little bit of nervousness and fear, but joy and excitement most definitely outweighs them. I’m happy to finally see all of the hard work be put into place… After months of fundraising, raising awareness and staying motivated, the day is today. The next few days will be filled with many eye openers and life long lessons, and I’m prepared for what the experience that this trip will provide for me. Most of all, I’m excited to be spending time with individuals who are dedicated to making positive change and sharing similar interests as I do.
I would just like to express an endless thanks to all of the coordinators of the trip, everyone who has positively contributed, and especially those who have given endless hours to ensure that this experience is just as great as we imagine it to be. A personal thank you goes out to all of my teachers, supporters in my community, and most of all, my sister- my main motivator and my other half. Philippines, here we come! 🙂

  15. I am so excited to go on this trip.We have been fundraising for 3 months and honestly I thought I was not going to be able to raise the 4000 dollars, but finally we’re here! It was a lot of work to fundraise and was not fun going to ask buisness owners for sponsherships (because sometimes they
were rude) but all the hard work was worth it. I think this will be the best Christmas break since we are going across the world and helping others in need!!! Also a tha hype to all my family and friends that supported me 😆😆😆P.s not excited for the 15 hour flight 😅

  16. I am so excited to go on this trip. The past few months have been really hard to fundraise and honestly I did not think I was going to be able to raise the full four thousand dollars, but I did it wih the help of friends and famy members. In the next few hours we will be leaving to go to the airport ( this post is really last minute lol) and I am really excited and nrvous. I think this will be the most memorable Christmas break . I am really happy we will be travelling across the world and helping others in need. Thank you Mr Consil for giving the opportunity to go on this trip and thank you to everyone who helped fundraiser!!!😆😆😆p.s not excited for the 15 hot flight 😅

  17. I have to leave for the airport in an hour and honestly it hasn’t even hit me yet. I feel like it will once I see all of you at the airport. I’m really excited to be going because even if i only make a difference in one persons life that would be satisfaction enough for me! I have done trips similar to this before and I know that you will all gain something irreplaceable from going on this trip! I want to that my mom and family and principle because without them i wouldn’t be going on this one in a lifetime experience! See you guys soon!

  18. We’ve arrived in the Philippines and the first day (kind of) is over… Today, we settled in our rooms, went to the mall, attended mass and gathered together our donations. It’s been a long, yet eventful day, and I’m thankful to be here. I can’t lie, the heat’s getting to me, but I won’t allow it to be a reason not to be my best every single day. I’m settling in bed and getting ready for the day tomorrow. Philippines has been so great so far, and I’m ready for all of the experiences that we have ahead of us.

  19. We have finally arrived here in the Philippines!!!! The plane ride wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It still doesn’t feel like I am here in the Philippines!! It’s been a long day but an eventful one. I was able to see a little of the city today and it was beautiful. The heat is already getting to be but I won’t let that stop me from having an amazing time. I know that this trip will be filled with amazing experiences and adventure. I can’t wait to see what the rest of days have in store for me.

  20. After today, it almost feels unfair to be as privileged as I am. The experience was definitely an eye opener to what’s out there outside of my life in Toronto. I can’t help but to think back to how easy it truly is for me to access something as simple as water in my own home, but for them that’s often the least of their worries as they have other priorities… These are priorities focusing on self health and ensuring that basic necessities can be provided. It’s difficult to enter in the slums of the Philippines knowing how much I have, but it’s a good reminder of all I need to be thankful for. With so little, the individuals there are still able to find complete happiness, and that’s one of the main teachings I hope to understand and gain by the end of the trip.
