E-CSLIT Face-to-Face SUMMARY (October 6, 2016)
ECSLIT held their very first meeting of the year at the Catholic Education Centre on Thurs. Oct. 6, 2016. A big thank you goes out to all the people that attended (156 elementary students and 26 teachers). What a great start to the new year!
We started off the meeting watching the first inning of the Jay’s game while waiting for all the schools to show up. GO BLUE JAYS!
After watching the first inning of the Jay’s game we jumped right into introducing our new Directors of Elementary Affairs, April Bayona (Gr. 12 Cardinal Newman) and Nilojan Stanley (Gr. 12 Francis Libermann). We gave the students the chance to ask as many questions as they could within 30 seconds.
We enjoyed playing the Handshakin Dancin icebreaker where we had a few leaders show off their handshakes and dances with their newly found partners!
Michael Consul give the students a Mike Talk about October’s virtue of the month on gratitude. Michael quoted Tony Robbins, “Suffering comes from expectation. Trade your expectation to appreciation and your whole life changes in that moment.“
After devouring 448 slices of pizza, student leaders worked as a team to create the best flying paper airplane. The challenge had everyone in a frenzy. The plane the flew the furthest would be crowned champion.
Every month we have a Teacher Challenge. It’s a quick game that leaders can bring back to their school to promote friendly competition and school spirit. We had Scarborough vs West End teachers participate in pairs. One teacher was responsible for flipping the cup over the table while their partner had to catch the cup with a stick. It is a lot harder than you think!
Concluding our meeting we had a reminder of the Monthly Challenge. We Scare Hunger! Bring in as many non-perishable foods items as you can for our next meeting.
