On Thursday, October 20th, the first ECSLIT online meeting of from 3:30-5:00pm. The meeting was comprised of many jokes, fun games, magic tricks and an amazing guest speaker! It was a huge success with 60+ different terminals logging on with over 100 students and staff participating. A big thank you goes out to everyone who participated and our lovely guest speaker, Andre Fullerton.
While we waited for all schools to log on, our ECSLIT team began the Pre-show segment at 3:30 PM with a competition between April, Nilo and Mike. The trio had to say a few of their best jokes, with students deciding who had the funniest or (pun)niest jokes. Mike won the students over by having the majority of students voting for him with April and Nilo tied for second.
Around 3:45 PM, the ECSLIT online pre-show comes to a wrap! Now it’s time for the meeting to begin. The meeting starts with a prayer led by Nilo and April.
After the prayer, students participated in a friendly trivia competition against each other. Schools had to work together in order to obtain the highest amount of points to win the prize of the month!
This month’s prize were 10 tickets to the Angel Foundation of Learning Gala happening on October 28th. Congratulations to St. Bruno for winning the competition! Please remember to contact Mike for more information!
The photo above is one of the 16 questions that students had to answer. The fastest school to answer in the chat box would win a point. Questions ranged from many different topics such as Halloween and Virtues of the Month. (The answer to the photo above is: WE!)
Before getting into our guest speaker, Mike had an amazing magic trick to show all staff and students. Many students and staff were left in amazement!
Mike the Magician, with the help of his assistant Simeon, amazes all by making a quarter disappear. Mike then makes the quarter magically reappear in one of the items placed on the desk. Wow!
Our guest speaker this month was Andre Fullerton who is the Supervisor of Outreach, Community Use of Schools. Andre is also the coordinator of Focus on Youth (FOY), a great program that provides employment and leadership opportunities to youth living in the Greater Toronto Area.
Andre asks all students to follow their passion and do what they are best at when choosing a career. Andre advised that when choosing a career, not to only focus on the money. The key is to find a balance between your talents, passions, and the salary you can make.
As 5:00 PM comes quickly around the corner, it’s time to say good-bye to all student leaders. The first ECSLIT online meeting of the school year was a huge success and a lot of fun! A big thank you goes out to all the students, staff and Andre Fullerton for participating in the online meeting.
The next online meeting will be on Thursday, November 17, 2016.
Our next ESCLIT face-to-face meeting will be on Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 at the Catholic Education Centre. Please bring in your canned food for We Scare Hunger! We hope to see you there!
