Elementary student leaders gather for our second ECSLIT second face-to-face meeting of the year held on November 1, 2017. It was held in Quigley Hall in the Catholic Education Centre.
We started our meeting with a prayer, gracefully delivered by Michael Consul’s co-op student Roshan. After prayer, CSLIT’s Director’s of Elementary Affairs (Michael Mejia and Aviel Scarlette) led the student leaders in a quick ice breaker! We played the number game.
We welcome the Superintendent of Student Services, Cristina Fernandes, to give the student leaders a talk on allergies and safety.
Next up, Michael Consul gives his virtue of the month talk! He teaches students about peacemaking and taking action.Michael quotes Abraham Lincoln, “I don’t like that man, I must get to know him better.”
Mike facilitates a fun ice breaker! Ping Pong Talk helps students meet new friends.
Pizza Time!! Pizza is followed by our challenge. Students were tasked with building tin foil boats that could hold pennies and still float. We had some impressive results!!
Congratulations to St. Jude who won the challenge. They filled up their boat with 340 pennies!!
Last but not least, we get an inspiring talk from Glendale Reyes from The Learning Partnership. Glen spoke to the students about an overlooked leadership skill – storytelling.
“The best way to communicate is to tell stories. Have an idea of where you want to go. Communicate that vision.”
– Glendale Reyes
